最近転職サイトのCMがとても多いと思うのは私だけでしょうか。そんなに誘わないでくれ、というのが正直な思いだが、転職を決意する理由として、会社の評価に対する不満が多く、自分に対する会社の評価に納得がいかなければ、もっと自分を高く買ってくれる会社に転職したいと思うのは当然のことでもあるので、こればかりは仕方がないとも思っている。ただ１つ気になることがある。「評価」というものの違いについてである。

CMでは「あなたのスキルを高く評価してくれる」と誘っていて、今の会社で評価されないスタッフから見れば、これはとても魅力的な文句なのだが、自分を高く評価してくれない今の会社の評価と、スキルを高く評価してくれる転職候補の会社の評価は、本質的に全く異なるものだということに気づいていない人もいるのではないだろうか。

内部の評価は、その人の実際の仕事ぶりを評価する。これに対して、転職サイトで言っている「評価」は職務経歴書に書かれた内容を本人の自己申告に基づいて評価しているだけで、実質的な評価ではなく表面的な評価である。Aという業務をスムーズにこなしたか、周りに助けてもらいながらやっとの思いでこなしたかは職務経歴書ではわからない。ただ、Aという業務を経験しているのなら、こういうこともできるのではないかと自分たちの業務内容に合わせて評価しているだけである。もし本人が、本当はほぼ上司にやってもらっただけなのに、自分でやったと申告した場合の評価は正しい評価にはならないが、それが外部からの評価の限界である。採用担当者としては、本人の自己申告が本当かどうかを見極めるしかない。

EPCSでは1年に1度、自己評価と上司による評価を行ったうえで面談を行っているが、可能な限り公平な評価になるよう、様々な工夫をしている。業務ごとに異なる上司と仕事をするので、評価も複数の人間が行うことにより、一人の評価ですべてが決まるということは起こりえない。評価項目も多岐にわたり、会計や税務の知識だけでなく、社内及び社外のコミュニケーション力、作業の効率性、正確性等色々な評価項目で評価を行い、スタッフそれぞれの強みと弱みをそれぞれ評価できるように考えている。それでももちろん完璧な評価を行うことはできないので不満を持つスタッフがいるのも事実であるが、なるべくスタッフの声を聴き、毎年評価のやり方についても検討してアップデートしている。

自分の評価が気になるのは当然のことであり、それが必ずしも自己評価と一致しないのもまたよくあることである。会社としては、それがすぐに転職理由になるのではなく、冷静に評価を受け止め、自分に足りないところを把握し、改善のための意欲を持ってもらうことが重要である。そのためには納得できるような丁寧な説明と、改善のためのサポートを手厚くすること、また常にあなたが会社にとってとても大切な存在だということを伝えることも大切と考えている。

これらは、お客様が経理関連の業務アウトソーシング（＝経理業務のビジネスプロセスアウトソーシング、以下経理ＢＰＯという。）する場合に得られる主なメリットです。一方で、経理ＢＰＯにもいくつか弱点があります。弊社はこのいくつかの弱点をカバーすることにより、お客様に安心して経理関連の業務をお任せいただいています。今回は、これらの経理ＢＰＯの弱点をどのようにカバーしているかについて、初めて経理ＢＰＯを検討されるお客様よりいただくご不安の声にお答えする形でいくつかご紹介させていただきたいと思います。

お客様の会計情報等の機密情報、また給与計算及び社会保険手続きにて個人情報も取り扱うため、弊社の業務執務室等のセキュリティは人的・物的両面で万全な施策・体制をもって運用されており、その中でお客様業務を実施しています。人的な施策としては、社員向けにP-マークやコンプライアンス、情報セキュリティに関する研修を定期的に実施し、情報漏洩やインシデントにおけるリスク、情報の取扱い方法等についての社員への教育・啓蒙を行っています。また、物理的な施策としては、データアクセス制限（担当者以外閲覧不可）、鍵付きキャビネットでの書類保管などの運用面のサポート、またBCP（事業継続計画）が整備されており、災害発生時の対応に対する準備も行われています。

たしかに弊社においてもお客様業務の担当者が代わることはありえます。しかし、担当者が代わることによって業務の品質が落ちないような仕組み作りを行うことで、そのリスクを最小化しています。まず、お客様の弊社担当者は、上位者を含め最低3名の体制を組んで業務を行います。そのうちの一人が担当変更となっても、残りの2名の同業務の経験者が、担当変更となる担当者が行っていた業務をカバーすることができます。これは、担当変更時だけでなく、通常の業務遂行時において急に担当者が仕事を休まなければならないケースなどでも効果を発揮します。また、業務の標準化・ドキュメント化を推進し、日々改善に取り組んでいます。これにより、担当者が代わったとしても標準化された業務の品質はほとんど落とさず、シームレスな担当者変更を行うことができるわけです。

経理関連の業務アウトソーシングの弱点をカバーする

新型コロナウィルスが世に出始めて早くも２年半が経ちました。当時は誰がwithコロナの生活がこんなにも長く続くと予想したでしょうか。コロナ禍でEPCSの業務も大きく変わりました。EPCSではコロナ前からテレワークの導入を検討し進めてはいましたが、皮肉にもコロナが発火剤となり一気にギアが３つぐらい上がりました。現在は毎日半数以上のスタッフがテレワークを行い、多い人では毎月9割以上テレワークで仕事をしている人もいます。またオフィスはフリーアドレスに変わり固定の座席は無くなりました。

テレワークと会計・税務業務の相性はいい！

テレワークを進めた結果、「紙をベースにした作業じゃないと会計事務所の仕事はできない」とか「ミーティングを行うので物理的に１つの場所に集まらないといけない」とかといった固定概念が180度ひっくり返り、業務はほぼペーパーレスとなり、ウェブミーティングツールを使用することにより直接会わなくても社内・社外ともにミーティングを行うことが可能となりました。 もちろん直接クライアントと会ったり、直接社内のスタッフと会ったりすることにより生まれてくる利点は当然ありますが、セキュリティ面をしっかり担保することができれば、会計事務所の仕事は他の業種と比較してリモートワークで行いやすいと改めて認識することができました。例えばクライアントから財務諸表について質問があった場合、従来であれば電話で回答するか、メールで回答するか、若しくは直接お会いして回答するかのどれかでしたが、ウェブミーティングツールがあれば、クライアントと財務諸表やそれに関するデータを画面で共有しながら口頭で説明することが可能です。この方法は使い方によっては、電話やメールよりも効率的に分かりやすく説明することが可能になります。書類等の受け渡しもメールやクラウドを使って行うことにより出社する必要がありませんし、保存や整理も楽に行えます。 EPCSではクライアントへの成果物を作成する際は必ず2名以上によるダブルチェックを行います。こちらも従来はプリントアウトしたものにチェックを入れていましたが、現在はPDFやエクセルに電子的にチェック入れるフローに変更しました。クライアントとの契約書も電子契約に移行しています。クライアントとのミーティングも基本的にはウェブミーティングです。 但しテレワークにより困ったこともあります。会計・税務の専門書の置き場所です。オフィスには専門書を置いていますが、当然テレワークの場合はオフィスの本は読めません。自宅に自分で購入した専門書を置いてはいるのですが、欲しいもの全ての専門書をカバーできませんし、その程度の数の専門書であったとしてもデスクの横に並べる十分なスペースを確保できません。半分ぐらいは段ボールに入れてデスクの横に置いています。これが現時点でのテレワークをした場合の会計・税務のプロフェッショナルとしての一番の苦悩です。

コロナ禍で税務調査の件数が激減しました。この2年半で国税の税務調査は1度もありません。地方税は少しありましたが数えるほどです。セキュリティの点で難しいかも知れませんが、税務署もテレワークやペーパーレスを推進すればいいのにと思ったりします（既にされているのかも知れませんが）。税務調査では原則紙ベースで調査を行い、外部とのやりとりはメールを使わず電話かFAXです。以前調査官からセキュリティの観点からメールを使用することは難しいと聞いたことがありますが、個人的にはFAXの方がよっぽどリスキーだと思います。もちろん税務署側にも簡単にメールに移行できない理由があるのだと思います。電子帳簿保存法が改正され、電子保存が主流になれば税務調査のやり方も自ずと変わっていくのではないでしょうか。

会計事務所の可能性・EPCSの魅力

昨今資格試験の受験者が激減しており、税理士試験受験者もご多分に漏れず減っています。当然会計事務所で働こうと考えている人口も減っていると考えられます。減っている理由は売り手市場なのでわざわざ資格取得を目指す必要がないとか、取得するのに時間が掛かり過ぎるとか色々あると思いますが、１つは労働環境が良くないというイメージがあるのではと個人的には思っています。必ずオフィスに出社して古典的な紙ベースの仕事をするイメージとか、単純で地味な仕事を黙々と熟さないといけないとかというステレオタイプが少なからず存在しているのだと思っています。 しかし実際はそんなことはありません。コロナ禍によって会計事務所の可能性というものが引き出され、テレワークをやりやすい業界として従来よりも魅力が上がったと感じています。特にEPCSでは先にも書きましたようにテレワークが進んでおり推奨しています。テレワークを活用した柔軟な働き方が可能です。ペーパーレスや業務の効率化を推進しています。コロナ禍により働き方が多様化・柔軟化しました。海外のクライアントとのやりとり等英語を使う案件も沢山あります。紙よりもPCを使います。社長をはじめスタッフ同士意見を言いやすい風通しの良い働きやすい環境と思っています。もちろん勉強しないといけないことは沢山あって日々勉強ですが、その分成長を体感できる職場であると思っています。会計・税務業界に少しでも興味のある方は試しにEPCSのドアをくぐってもらえると嬉しいです。

They can work well with others, and they are meticulous because the job involves numbers. However, I am worried that if we always use the same criteria, we will end up with the same type of people. I think that is not a good thing. There is probably no right answer, so I guess I will continue to worry about this. EPCS is looking for people who have a desire to provide accounting and tax services as a professional service, people who are studying to become certified tax accountants or CPA. Since they work in teams, they are also required to have communication skills. We also want to see that the candidate does not have a personality that will negatively affect those around him or her. What I always emphasize the most during interviews is a person's level of seriousness. When I was a senior in university, I had something I wanted to do and did not want to work for a company, but I was job hunting for a living and failed at every job I tried. I was terribly depressed at the time, but the reason was simple. There was no truth in my words. Even though I said “I want to join a company” that I didn't want to join, a professional interviewer could easily see through that to be a lie. As proof of this, there was one company that I wanted to join, and when I put my heart and soul into the person I admired, the person said, "Your words came across very well," and they hired me. At that time, I thought only the truth can be conveyed. In other words, what is true will always be conveyed. After that, my true words always got through. So now that I am on an interviewer side, I want to carefully assess the seriousness of the person I am interviewing. There are two steps of EPCS interviews, which take some time. Before EPCS decides to hire them, many people decide to join another company that conditions are better. It may be inevitable that they jump at the better conditions in front of them, but I feel that we need to convey more enthusiasm that we need the candidates during the interview. I feel that I am being asked to show something other than conditions, something like the seriousness of our side as an interviewer. Due to Covid-19, interviews are often conducted remotely, which makes the situation more difficult for conveying our enthusiasm. However, interviews are not only important for the company, but also an important meeting place between people, so I would like to continue to be sincere in my approach.

We have started to go paperless.

For me, preparing vouchers meant entering transactions into the accounting system, and the vouchers I had to check were in the form output from the system. Thirty years have passed since then, and with the spread of optical reading and AI, even the slip entry process is now automated. There is no doubt that the "automatic" part will continue to increase in the future. Automation has also extended to the field of tax return preparation. It is now common to hear that even people with little experience in tax return preparation can prepare tax returns by simply entering the necessary information into a template and having the AI read the information. In fact, recent technological advances in tax return preparation software have been so remarkable that, as long as staff does not make a mistake in understanding the contents of the input items, it is possible to create a correct tax return even if the staff does not know the connections among the tax return sheets or, more specifically, tax laws well. Is that really the right kind of "automatic"? No, in my opinion, it is not. Only those who understand "manual" can master "automatic". Last year, we spent a considerable amount of time training our employees to be able to file consumption tax and corporate tax returns by hand. At first glance, this may seem to run counter to the trend toward automation, but I feel that it is precisely because automation has advanced that this type of training is necessary.
